Opposition leader, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is reportedly mulling the idea of mass resignations with the demand of Special Status, few media reports suggest. The reports say all the 67 MLAs will resign and go for by-elections. Jagan thinks Special Status will be a change of fortunes for his party and is mulling this extreme step.
However this step will be very risky as the popularity of YSR Congress further dipped after the election. Also the Special Status issue could not impact the people much even with his fast unto death. MLAs are not sure of their winning if they go for the by-election.
Also MLAs have spent huge money in the last election and facing a by-election in less than 2 years will not be easy. If TDP manages to win some seats of the total 67 seats, the risky step by Jagan will only benefit the ruling party. So at this stage, it is a very dangerous decision in Jagan’s consideration.
