TRS strongman and KCR's nephew Harish Rao is a worried man. It is the victory in Siddipet municipal elections that is worrying him most. He wanted a clean sweep of all the 34 wards like the party did in Mahabubnagar's Achampet. He had even got six seats unopposed. But, to his shock, his party could win only 22 seats.
What is worse, seven independents, including six TRS rebels, have managed to win. They defeated the official TRS candidates. This is being seen as a snub to Harish. Also, the BJP and the Congress won two each and for the first time ever, MIM has won one ward in Siddipet. The TDP of course suffered a washout. This effectively means that out of the 28 seats for which elections were held, the party could win only 16 seats.
This is being seen as a huge setback to Harish Rao. This is for the first time that there is opposition to him and also six of the candidates he had nominated had lost to rebels, who challenged him.
This definitely is a cause for worry for Harish, who is vying for the CM's post with KTR.
