In what can be termed as a big blow to the Telangana government, Election Commission may order rechecking all the latest voter lists in the GHMC region. After a wide outcry over heavy tampering in the electoral roll in favour of the ruling party, Election Commission had sent couple of teams to look in to the issue.
The central teams have checked few deleted votes in all the constituencies in the GHMC region and arrived at a conclusion that rules were floated in deletion of the votes. Many votes were removed not following the standard procedures of giving notices and undertaking door to door verification.
Election Commission is likely to order a complete re-verification in to the electoral votes. This exercise may take two more months which will probably postpone the GHMC elections. Opposition parties allege that most votes removed are that of the settlers.
