After decimating Telangana TDP, Telangana Rashtra Samiti seem to have shifted its focus on to the main opposition party, Congress. Reports are coming in that the ruling party is in talks with Senior Congress leader and former Minister, Ponnala Lakshmaiah. Former PCC Presidents Keshava Rao and D.Srinivas are mediating on this.
Ponnala is reportedly expecting Rajya Sabha seat from TRS, but the ruling party is offering him an MLC post. Ponnala however condemned the news. Ponnala is being aloof to Congress affairs in the state. Given the political atmosphere in the state, any thing can happen in Telangana politics.
Congress like any opposition party in the state is in crisis. The party lost all the elections after 2014 including in the by-election of Narayankhed which is Congress’ own state. Paleru is also likely to go for by-election after sitting Congress MLA, Ramreddy Venkatreddy breathed his last and it will be a litmus test for Congress yet again!
