Nandan Nilekani slams Aadhaar surveillance allegations


The Supreme Court on Monday observed that the Aadhaar card cannot stand in the way of citizens accessing the benefits of social welfare schemes of the government. Speaking exclusively to Vir Sanghvi, the man who set up Aadhaar-Nandan Nilekani said Aadhaar was never meant to be an instrument of surveillance. He said that Aadhaar was meant for eliminating duplicates in social welfare schemes and improve the quality of governance. Nandan Nilekani stated that Aadhaar is not mandatory for everything like getting admission in the school.
