Modi sets aside protocol for Kerala fire victims

In an unprecedented move that showed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's concern for the fire mishap victims in Kerala, he has asked the Navy and Air Force to take part in the relief and rescue operations. The Prime Minister, who was deeply shocked by the Puttingal temple fire mishap, where the fire crackers kept for a temple festival caught fire, asked the officials to speed up the rescue and relief works.

Prime Minister Modi himself is heading towards Kerala to take stock of the situation. He also directed the officials not to worry about the protocol for him. He also asked them not to make any special arrangements for him. He is taking some expert doctors known for treating burns victims with him. He also directed Cabinet Secretary Pradeep Sinha to provide all necessary help to Kerala Government.

At around 3 AM on Sunday, the fire crackers kept ready for the temple festival at Puttingal Devi temple in Paravur of Kollam district in Kerala, caught fire and the massive fire and explosion took over 100 lives and left 300 critically injured. The fire cracker festival is an annual fete of the Puttingal temple and is well known in the nearby districts.
