Massive Earthquake Kills Over 100


One of the world's most deadliest nations which are usually rocked by terrorist attacks and bomb blasts, Afghanistan and Pakistan, are devastated by a major earthquake which measured 7.5 on the Richter Scale. The massive earthquake occurred at 2:40 pm and it killed over 100 civilians in both the countries and left hundreds injured. 

Officials claim that as many as 76 people were killed in Pakistan while 24 people were reported dead in Afghanistan. At least 12 school children died in a stampede while rushing out of the building which was swinging due to tremors. Strong tremors were felt in Srinagar, various part of Jammu & Kashmir and even  Delhi and the National Capital Region, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. 

The Hindukush mountain range is the epicenter of the earthquake with the depth of the tremor spreading to nearly 212 kilometers. The intensity of the tremors was felt for more nearly a minute, with tall buildings swaying and collapsing, said the reports. A majority of casualties took place in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and the Bajur tribal region bordering Afghanistan.
