The other day, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in the assembly while announcing a slew of measures taken by his government in making agriculture profitable, sang praises of his Mission Kakatiya program which is aimed at rejuvenating the tanks in the state. KCR claimed that the works are completed 100% for the first year.
However the official records are totally different. In a reply to an RTI application, the government itself agreed that there is no truth in the 100% completion claims. For an instance we take the Siddipet, the constituency of Harish Rao who is leading the program and Gajwel, Chief Minister’s own constituency.
In Siddipet, works in 21 tanks are completed out of the total 58 taken up. Seven tank works were not even started. In Gajwel, the situation is even worse. Only the works in six tanks were complete out of the total 73. Works in 23 tanks were not started yet. If this is case with the constituencies of the Chief Minister and the Irrigation Minister, the works in the remaining places can be assumed.
Below is the status of Mission Kakatiya in Siddipet Division obtained from the RTI Reply.
