Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao has played a police role. Stunning all, the Assembly Speaker caught red handed teak smugglers when they were smuggling wood in a car and handed over them to police in his native Guntur district.
He noticed a five member gang chopped off the trees on road side at Phirangipuram village between Guntur - Narasaraopet towns and loaded them in a car.
The Speaker immediately chased the car and caught the gang with the support of this security personnel. He also burnt all the smuggled wood to ashes in the presence of police. Kodela expressed anger on Roads and Buildings department officials for their failure in maintaining vigilance on the protection of tress on the roads in the state.
