Looks like the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has not learnt a thing even after being pulled up by the Telangana state Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development KTR for failing to restore the pathetic civic conditions and repair the badly damaged roads during the recent rains.
Yesterday, KTR once again vented out his anger on the GHMC officials warning them of strict action if they didn't repair the damaged roads and restore the drainage systems on war-footing.
The incessant rains that damaged the roads showed to the world the shocking reality of Hyderabad, a city which KTR proudly claims to be in race for becoming a 'global city'.
Lakhs of voters trusted KTR during the GHMC polls earlier this year and especially, voters in TDP dominant areas like Kukatpally, Qutbullapur and Malkajgiri brought TRS into power this time.
But the voters are now cursing their leaders and local municipal authorities for their appalling negligence towards their woes. The GHMC authorities have clearly failed to prepare themselves to restore normalcy in the city in case of nature's fury.
Badly damaged and waterlogged roads are causing severe traffic jams and are even leading to several unfortunate deaths. Meanwhile, lakhs of families are at the brink of an outbreak of various diseases that may rise after the rain waters dry up. It's high time to shout out loud "Jago GHMC".
