Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has received a major jolt for encouraging other party MLAs to defect to his party.
High Court has rejected the merger of TDLP consisting of 12 Telangana Telugu Desam legislators with ruling TRS Legislative Party. After the joining of TDP MLAs in TRS, Telangana Assembly Speaker Madhusudhana Chary recently announced merger of TDLP in ruling party.
Court raised strong objection on the Speaker's decision and instructed him to explain reasons as to why the TDLP merged in 90 days. Meanwhile, TDP leader A Revanth Reddy said court instruction was a slap in the face of KCR. As per the rules, Speaker does not have any powers to merge a legislative party with other parties.
Revanth said the TDP was demanding the disqualification of turncoats and organise bye elections in all assembly constituencies from where the TDP defectors won 2014 election. Eom
