Union minister for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya is playing the role of mediator between Telangana CM KCR and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu to address water sharing dispute between two states.
As the centre called for a meeting of the two chief ministers on September 21 in New Delhi with union minister for Water Resources Uma Bharthi, Dattatreya took initiative to solve the issue amicably. He held a meeting with Telangana Irrigation minister T Harish Rao and inquired the hurdles facing from AP in the construction of irrigation projects on rival Krishna and Godavari.
Similarly, Dattatreya spoke to AP Irrigation minister D Uma Maheswara Rao on AP government objection to the projects taken up by Telangana. The minister assured he would bring to the notice of Uma Bharthi all the issues before the meeting.
Leaders said on the instructions of the Prime minister Narendra Modi, Dattatreya began consultations with the two states ahead of the meeting. He would explain the centre the stance of the two states on water sharing issues.
