Mercer’s Quality of Living Report 2015 released last week, had ranked Hyderabad 134 globally in the list of cities with the best quality living standards. The City of Pearls is ahead of Pune (145th), Bengaluru (146th), Chennai (151st), commercial capital Mumbai (152nd) and India’s political capital New Delhi (154th).
The study considered political and social environment, medical care and health considerations, public services, recreation facilities and natural environment factors while preparing the report.
The researchers also came up with explanation why major cities are behind Hyderabad in the report. They say population increase in Mumbai and increase in problems like access to clean water, air pollution, and traffic congestion for New Delhi for several decades make them not so good places.
