Chandrababu's Gesture Saves A 9 Month Old Girl

Doctors at Global Hospitals, Chennai have successfully transplanted the liver for a 9 month old baby girl from Chittoor named Gnanasai. In an operation that lasted for 9 hours, internationally reputed doctors took 25 percent of the girl's father Ramanappa's liver for the transplantation. Both the baby girl and her father are recuperating well.

Gnanasai's family hails from Kothapalle in Chittoor district. Gnanasai was diagnosed with a life threatening liver ailment and her financially backward parents spent every penny they had on the girl's treatment.

When doctors told Ramanappa and his wife that Gnanasai will have to undergo an expensive surgery, the helpless parents who were pained to see their daughter battling for life, approached a local court with a petition for mercy killing of their daughter.

Their desperate appeal caught AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu's attention and the CM immediately spoke to the girl's parents and assured them that Gnanasai's entire medical expenses will be borne by the government.

Chandrababu went on to instruct the state's Health Minister to monitor Gnanasai's operation. Babu also assured lifelong support for Gnanasai's medicines after the doctors said that Gnanasai will have to take medicines throughout her life. Needless to say, Chandrababu's kind gesture not only saved a baby's life, it also earned him appreciation from all quarters.
