Union Minister of State for Home Affairs HP Chaudhary in Rajya Sabha opined that bifurcated Andhra Pradesh doesn’t need special status as centre has been fulfilling all the promises listed in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.
He made these comments during the debate on private member’s bill in Rajya Sabha. HP Chaudary recalls that 14h finance commission has not recommended any special status to any state in the country.
However, he assured that central government is committed to extend financial support to AP and the allocations will be based on the report of NITI Aayog. He also informed Centre has sanctioned funds for AP capital Amaravati and 7 backward districts of the state. Now, it is interesting to see how Andhra Pradesh goverment will react to this.
