As expected, England skipper Alastair Cook emerges as the youngest cricketer to score 10,000 runs in Tests by shattering the record set by Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin completed this feat when he was 31 years 326 days while Cook managed to join the elite club in 31 years 157 days thus by becoming the youngest cricketer in the world to break that record.
Cook achieved this feat during the fourth day of second test match againsst Srilanka on Monday. England beat Sri Lanka in this match and clinched the seriess. Sachin reached the mark in 196 innings while Cook took 226 innings to complete the feat. Cook made his debut against India in 2006 and scored a century in his maiden match.
