After being boiled down over the past couple of months in scorching hot summer, Hyderabad has suddenly witnessed heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightening. This evening, a heavy downpour with stormy winds wreaked havoc on the capital city by waterlogging the roads.
Huge trees and hoardings were uprooted and fell on a few city roads, causing damage to several cars and two-wheelers and disrupting traffic. With thick, dark clouds blanketing the city's sky, the entire city has become dark by 5 pm itself.
The magnitude of the rainfall is so severe that a pipeline near the Banjara Hills water tank broke completely and several vehicles were washed away in the water, causing a huge traffic jam. Most areas in the city were cut off power supply, pushing the city dwellers into darkness. Various municipal authorities are working relentlessly to restore normalcy.
