In a good news to all entertainment seekers, the Union Cabinet has approved the Shops and Establishments Act today. This act allows the movie theaters, restaurants, banks, departmental stores and other related businesses across the country to stay open 24/7.
The Cabinet cleared the act taking the employment generation possibilities into consideration especially after employment generation across 8 sectors dropped to a 6-year low last year. The act also makes it mandatory to provide cab services for women who work during the night shifts.
Currently, only larger manufacturing units and service sector firms are allowed to stay open 24/7. Soon, this act will be implemented in all the Indian states with uniformity in regulations and working conditions, bringing a revolution in the country's nightlife scene.
The Cabinet also approved the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission and gave its nod to a 23.6% increase in the salaries and pensions of central government employees.
