Arun Jaitley’s Budget Speech has no mention about the pleas of Andhra Pradesh. All the demands like Special Status, 6000 Crore to Polavaram and 4000 Crore for construction of government buildings and other essential infrastructure in Amaravati. Jaitley also did not even announce any Special Package to the truncated state.
There is also no word on assisting Andhra Pradesh in bridging the state’s revenue deficit for the first year after the state division. We are already in the third year of the state division. The state government had requested for special incentives to the investors coming forward to set up industries in the new capital region.
Polavaram which is a national project after state division needed immediate assistance from the central goverment but there is no mention of that either. Jaitley remaining silent on these issues indicate that there are only meagre allocations to these issues which may not be significant to mention in the budget. Detailed budget should give an idea if there are any allocations or not.
